UVA rays can damage your skin invisibly by suppressing the immune system and aging the skin over time. This matters because UVA rays are more abundant than UVB rays, and UVA damage is more subtle than the sunburns induced mainly by UVB rays. In fact, Americans sunscreen choices are fewer and often offer worse UVA protection compared to those available in the European Union. sunscreens allow about three times more UVA rays to transfer through skin compared to European sunscreens. Are You Using the Best Sunscreens?Ī past EWG report cited research of Brian Diffey, Ph.D., emeritus professor of photobiology at the Institute of Cellular Medicine at Newcastle University. Things may be slowing moving in the right direction, but for now, the onus is still on the consumer to find sunscreen that’s safer and actually works. Some public safety experts say this is just one example of the backward nature of product regulation in the U.S.īeyond safety issues is another question: Does sunscreen even work? EWG found that nearly 75 percent of sunscreens don’t work and/or contain concerning ingredients that are readily absorbed by the body. This builds on previous research showing that sunscreen chemicals hit the bloodstream within a day of using them - and at levels high enough to prompt a government investigation on safety. The sunscreen chemicals tested in this FDA study included avobenzone, oxybenzone, octocrylene, homosalate, octisalate and octinoxate, and all six active ingredients tested readily absorbed into the bloodstream of humans involved the study - and at concentrations that surpass an important FDA safety threshold. Food and Drug Administration-led 2020 study found that “chemical sunscreen ingredients are systemically absorbed after one application, and some ingredients can stay in the blood for at least three weeks.” The effects of sunscreen may linger longer than expected, too. Sunscreen Chemicals Build Up in Your Blood EWG VERIFIED frees consumers from the same limited sunscreen options every year. Sunscreens must also meet performance criteria to ensure strong UVA protection. To get approved for the EWG VERIFIED mark, products must first be formulated to achieve our criteria for ingredient safety, the same requirement that thousands of EWG VERIFIED cosmetics have to meet. Looking for this mark is a quick and easy way to identify the most protective products from the hundreds that are featured in our Guide to Sunscreens. In this 17th annual guide, the group found that only one in four of the more than 1,700 sunscreens reviewed met those standards.ĮWG VERIFIED sunscreens meet our exacting standards for ingredient safety, transparency and efficacy. To help navigate the sunscreen landscape, the group introduced the EWG VERIFIED® Sunscreen, suncreens that both meet EWG’s strict standards for sun protection and avoid harmful ingredients. The long-term use of these chemicals, and especially chemicals not adequately tested for safety, could be problematic.” “Despite the known toxicity concerns, oxybenzone is still widely used as a non-mineral active ingredient in sunscreens. “We slather these ingredients on our skin, but many of these chemicals haven’t been adequately tested,” said Carla Burns, EWG senior director for cosmetic science. Even the European Commission, which reviews ingredient safety in Europe, published a final opinion finding oxybenzone unsafe for use at current levels. The National Toxicology Program released findings linking oxybenzone exposure to a higher risk of thyroid tumors in female rats. For instance, oxybenzone - a suspected hormone-disrupting chemical that is readily absorbed into the body - is used much less in the more than 1,700 products EWG examined, but it was still found, as were other troubling ingredients. With warmer weather right around the corner, though, many people are looking for the best sunscreens to cut their risk of sun overexposure, sunburns and possibly skin cancer.Įnvironmental Working Group’s 17th annual Guide to Sunscreens is a mix of good and bad news when it comes to the state of sunscreens sold in American and beyond. It’s no secret that the sun (in moderate doses) provides all sorts of health benefits, including helping our bodies manufacture vital vitamin D.

The smash factor remained consistently at 1.5 or higher when good strikes were made. Let’s start with what everyone wants: ball speed and forgiveness. It’s not a club that fits every golfer, but the Cobra RADSPEED fairway wood is the closest I’ve found to fitting everyone. Cobra RADSPEED Fairway Wood: Performanceĭue to the myriad ways in which fairway woods can be used, it is difficult to design one that fits a wide array of golfers. The difference between a quality strike and a miss was easily noticeable to me. However, despite the stability of the head, the feedback through the hands is quite good. As you move off the center, the sound dulls to let you know you missed one. It sounds similar to the sound of a fairway wood, which is low-mid pitched and metallic. The Cobra prides itself on being unconventional, especially in looks, but the RADSPEED fairway wood plays it straight. A noticeable sound difference between a hit and a miss.Cobra RADSPEED Fairway Wood: Sound & Feel It has a lot of weights, rails, and branding, but Cobra pulls it together into a sharp, cohesive look.Ĭobra’s RADSPEED fairway woods are available in blue/red, or black/yellow. A sliver of carbon fiber peeks through the matte blue crown, and it looks very slick. I only have one complaint: it sits a bit tight in the neutral position, but the hosel can be adjusted easily.Īlthough I focused on the size and shape, I don’t think Cobra messed up the bag on the other design elements. Additionally, the shape is round and symmetrical. I like the head because it hits that sweet spot of being big enough to inspire confidence and small enough that I’m confident of doing well on the turf. The RADSPEED fairway woods always catch my attention with their vibrant colors and bold designs, but the RADSPEED woods also impressed me with their shape and size. Cobra RADSPEED Fairway Wood: Performance.Cobra RADSPEED Fairway Wood: Sound & Feel. The RADSPEED fairway wood features Cobra’s Dynamic Fit grip that is designed to fit the hand perfectly and help you achieve a consistent golf swing. The forged sole is made from chrome vanadium steel, which gives the RADSPEED durability that is unmatched by any other fairway wood on the market. The Cobra RADSPEED fairway wood is constructed with a carbon steel shaft and a forged sole. If you are looking for a driver that is built for a controlled ball flight, this is the club for you. The RADSPEED fairway wood is a great driver for any golfer. The ’99 version of the RADSPEED fairway wood wasn’t bad either. They have always been a favorite of mine because they were a great-looking club for the money and the feeling was great. I was pretty excited to try the new Cobra RADSPEED fairway wood because I’ve been a fan of Cobra’s fairway woods since the ’90s. Last year, I wrote a review of the Cobra RADSPEED Pro Tour fairway wood. How does the Binance exchange work?īinance is a centralized cryptocurrency exchange. This Sport has confident acceleration, and drops only a single mpg to the non-turbocharged engine while it hands off towing ratings of up to 3,500 pounds. Shifts stream out from a 6-speed automatic with slightly taller gearing, and power builds quickly at low revs. In the Santa Fe Sport, it’s rated at 240 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Stick instead with the 2.0-liter turbo-4, also available in the Sonata. The same engine works much better in the Sonata sedan, which usually carries less weight than the 3,739-pound Santa Fe Sport. It turns in 185 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque, and it does so in a busy, breathless way. Either way, the seat folds down to boost cargo space into the mini-moving-van range.Ī 2.4-liter inline-4 slots into the base Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. Some models have a highly recommended sliding second-row seat that reclines. Sized like a Cherokee or CR-V, the Santa Fe Sport lays out lots of room for four adults, enough for five. The steering could use a better sense of straight-ahead, but the Sport’s tuned to damp out bumps rather well, and the transmission dips into the power eagerly. Its 240 hp only cost a little more money and a mile per gallon or so.ĭon’t expect brilliant handling, but don’t expect the Sport to make egregious road blunders, either. Instead, take the turbo-4 and 6-speed automatic there’s more than enough boost to push the Sport along quite briskly, even if all-wheel drive is on board, adding all its extra weight, even when it’s dry and sunny outside. Its 185-hp output strains to meet the need of a couple of passengers and their stuff. Since you’re already interested in our opinion, believe us when we say to skip the base engine. Smart move, since the Santa Fe Sport strikes with deadly accuracy at the crossover-SUV styling median. Last year Hyundai tweaked it with new front and rear ends, but didn’t really change much. Wedged between the smaller Tucson and bigger Santa Fe, the 2018 Santa Fe Sport both resembles and looks better than both. Flash Player was officially discontinued on 31 December 2020, and its download page was removed two days later. This led to the eventual deprecation of the platform by Adobe. Its usage also waned because of modern web standards that allow some of Flash's use cases to be fulfilled without third-party plugins. Apple co-founder Steve Jobs was highly critical of Flash Player, having published an open letter detailing Apple's reasoning for not supporting Flash on its iOS device family. However, Flash Player became increasingly criticized for its performance, consumption of battery on mobile devices, the number of security vulnerabilities that had been discovered in the software, and its closed platform nature. Adobe stated in 2013 that more than 400 million out of over 1 billion connected desktops updated to new versions of Flash Player within six weeks of release. įlash Player once had a large user base, and was a common format for web games, animations, and graphical user interface (GUI) elements embedded in web pages. Internet Explorer 11 and Microsoft Edge Legacy, in Windows 8 and later, along with Google Chrome on all versions of Windows, came bundled with a sandboxed Adobe Flash plug-in. Flash Player supports vector graphics, 3D graphics, embedded audio, video and raster graphics, and a scripting language called ActionScript, which is based on ECMAScript (similar to JavaScript) and supports object-oriented code. It is currently developed and distributed by Zhongcheng for users in China, and by Harman International for enterprise users outside of China, in collaboration with Adobe.įlash Player runs SWF files that can be created by Adobe Flash Professional, Adobe Flash Builder or by third-party tools such as FlashDevelop. So what do you think about Joe Russo‘s justification for killing off Tony Stark in Avengers: Endgame? Let us know in the comments. After Nick Fury formed the Avengers Initiative, he recruited Tony Stark and other superheroes like Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Hulk, and Iron Man to fight and protect the Earth. Captain America X ReaderAfter Howard tragically dies, Tony gets put in charge of Stark Industries and Steve starts college. So that it would be a richer, more complex arc, and that’s why we chose him,” the filmmaker said. “So that seemed like the more compelling arc to us, that it would be Stark who died. Russo then added, “ Tony Stark is a character who was supposed to die,” and justified that Stark’s ego and his entire character arc from 2008’s Iron Man to Endgame, which needed a major sacrifice to complete his journey. You know, he’s a very likeable character, but it’s not necessarily the most compelling arc.” It might be emotionally impactful because you like him. Not a full answer, but here it goes: Captain America is to be addressed as Captain Rogers, he earned the rank during the 2nd World War. As reported by CBR, Joe Russo said, “If you think of Captain America as a character, you go ‘Okay, Captain America dying is fairly obvious,’ right? is something he would do based on the character. Since SketchBook Pro can read-write Photoshop. PSD files, the software makes a natural first-step before you finish up the sketch in Photoshop. Here are ten Photoshop panel add-ons which can help get the job done in everyone’s favorite uber-software, once you’ve finished up in Sketchbook.ġ. The very first thing the new user of Photoshop panels need is ZXPInstaller. It quickly and automatically installs all your Extension Panels direct from their. You used to be able to do this with something similar from Adobe, but they squished it with CC 2015. However ZPXInstaller is an open source continuation, and it uses the same Adobe engine to make it work. ZPXInstaller doesn’t uninstall, a process which is a total nightmare (because it needs to be done manually, and often the Panel has scattered its files into several obscure bits of Windows) - but if you need to make a start on uninstalling then you’re likely to find your installed panels and bits-of-panels in folders at:Ĭ:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\CEP\extensions\.Ĭ:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\CEP\extensions\.Ĭ:\Users\ YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\. The intrepid Photoshop panel-hunter on the Web probably also needs to know that in 2017 it’s wise to avoid older Panels that require Adobe Flash to work, especially if they auto-update. After installing ZXPInstaller we need to download the Stipplr panel (next slide). Double-click the ZXPInstaller.dmg (Mac) or ZXPInstaller.exe (Win) to install ZXPInstaller. Newer ones are made in the much-safer combination of JavaScript and HTML.Ģ. ZXPInstaller is a free open source alternative to Adobe Extension Manager: Download ZXPInstaller. Then download a new copy of the CFG for CC2017 demo version and install it with your new ZXPinstaller. The other main problem, common to all Panels it seems, is that its dialog windows don’t respect dual monitor use (they show up on the other monitor, for instance). This method available only for Photoshop CC and CC 2014. Install the Extension using a ZXP Its a run of the mill standard gun totting action flick grounded within the common sci-fi setting of steel corridors and medi labs. Clearly effort was made to go down the 'Alien' route rather than the current trend and I applaud that. Most of the creatures are men in rubber suits and detailed mockups which do look pretty good courtesy of Stan Winston's creature shop. Not the overblown CGI fest you might have expected! yes I'm amazed too. The film isn't top heavy with blood but it does get going from the midway point with some nice monster designs, slow increase of profanity and of course the classic FPS sequence towards the end which is very nicely done and dare I say quite cool. In my opinion it does pull it off just about and offers a decent slice of sci-fi action and gore. Early role for Urban here and he looks a bit chubby to me.Ĭore of the film is effects and horror and whether it could pull it off. Dwayne Johnson as the Sarge is reasonable but not quite the face you need for this really, the guy is too nice. Rest of the cast are all your regular types with nothing much to hold your attention. Richard Brake portrays Portman and am I the only one thinking he could make a brilliant Joker the way he looks in this film? The character of Portman is easily the Hudson clone here, more of a perverted creepy womaniser this time but he still has that rebellious loose cannon characteristic which makes him the best guy to watch. It always amuses me how these type of films include a Hudson character, its like common practice now to do this. The character names are all quite amusing and again totally cliched, but admittedly its based on a videogame so I guess they adhere to that well.Reaper Destroyer Duke The Kid etc. Of course it plays exactly like 'Aliens' from the point of the marines (what sci-fi film with soldiers doesn't) and offers the usual over the top macho nonsense you might expect. The disappointing plot changes aside the film isn't too bad really. The disappointing aspect of the film for me was the fact that all the creatures seemed to be merely mutated humans and not real monsters from another world or dimension. The videogame is mainly about demons and monsters coming through a portal from hell I think, end of the day its more about monsters than undead humans. So so so unoriginal and completely cliched sci-fi/horror, humans becoming the walking dead *yawn!*. This basically gives the excuse for lots of undead like space zombies which I hated. It does this by determining how evil the host is or if the host has the capacity to be evil, indeed. The really silly part is the fact that once inside a human host these alien chromosomes somehow are able to choose whether or not to turn the host into a monster or superhuman. Alien remains found on Mars with extra chromosomes allow humans to become immune to disease and heal faster, experimentation's on subjects cause them to mutate into monsters which of course break free and kill everyone. From there on the film goes off on its own tangent which encompasses all manner of regular sci-fi cliches. The plot flies close to the actual game story within the manual with certain aspects like the Mars location, teleportation experiments and the UAC corporation. Not that its a bad film though, surprisingly it keeps to the original source material and is actually made for adults only, one of its better qualities. We all know the game and how iconic it is, this film adaptation is less than iconic. The Evolution Ser($98) has the same 10-millimeter six-sided chain links, but it's 160 centimeters long-closer to the Abus' length-and 3 pounds heavier. The 1090's 90-centimeter length was a bit short, especially when a chain lock's main advantage over the U-lock should be a greater reach. Kryptonite's Evolution Ser($92) was a fine chain, but the Abus I picked as the best chain offers better length, security, and weight.I do have to note, however, that I would not use them to lock up a bike all day and that it's also easy to mount a U-lock on your down tube or carry something like the Hiplok on your body. However, they're compact when mounted and a good option if you mainly use your bike to lock up quickly at the convenience store or coffee shop. The pins that bind the links are weak spots that can be drilled out. I tend to use chains for scrambler-style ebikes that have very thick frames, such as the Super 73 S2.įolding locks are compact, but not as secure. I tested the Evolutbecause it was "only" 6.1 pounds and had decent security (though not as good as the Kryptonite New York U-Lock). However, they are the heaviest type of lock. A chain lock is easier to use on crowded bike racks (and with thicker or cheaper bikes) than a smaller U-lock. That's why I focused on testing only the thicker ones on the market.Ĭhains are flexible, but heavy. They might be a little heavier, but they're not that heavy compared to a chain lock. Thicker equals better, so a 16-millimeter U-lock is, all else being equal, a better bet than a 14-millimeter U-lock. Updated October 2022: We've added the Kryptonite Fahgettaboudit Chain 1410, Hiplok DXF, and Abus Ivera Steel-O-Flex 7200. I've also included some tips for locking your bike up properly. Locking up your bike takes only a few seconds, so you should always do so when it's unattended. While nothing can prevent a really determined thief from making off with your bike, you can deter many of them by securing your bike properly with a strong, well-designed lock. More than 2 million bicycles are stolen every year in North America, and less than 5 percent of them are recovered. Because thieves are most often lazy opportunists, they target the bikes that look the least secure. Leaving a bike unsecured outdoors is like leaving a stack of money on a bench with a sign that reads, “Don't take me.” Bicycles (and electric bicycles) are amazing machines, but one of their downsides is that they're incredibly easy to steal.
